Learning Objectives:
Demonstrate the use of an equianalgesic dosing table
Develop a patient-specific treatment plan that includes goals related to reductions in pain intensity,
accompanied by minimal side effects
Identify the pharmacologic and pharmacokinetic of various opioids and dosage forms for the use of
drug selection
Initiate opioid therapy or convert between different opioids, dosage formulations, or routes of
administration in an actual or simulated patient with a complaint of pain
Subject Matter Expert: Elizabeth Ragsdale, PharmD
As a clinical manager at Enclara Pharmacia, Elizabeth works with hospice clinical leadership to support and drive pharmacy initiatives in alignment with their corporate goals. Elizabeth also provides clinical support and education to hospice providers and nursing staff. Before her transition to Enclara, Elizabeth worked as a geriatric consultant pharmacist working closely with providers and nursing staff in long term care facilities completing monthly drug regimen reviews and recommendations for therapy changes. Throughout her career, Elizabeth has enjoyed working on multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient care. Elizabeth earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Rhode Island and was previously board certified as a geriatric pharmacist.
