Subject Matter Expert: Jamila Holcomb, PhD, LMFT
Dr. Jamila Holcomb is Teaching Faculty at Florida State University in their Human Development and Family Science Department. Dr. Holcomb is also a licensed marriage and family therapist and clinical supervisor. She is the owner of Holcomb Counseling and Consulting, LLC, specializing in individual, family, and trauma counseling. Merging her academic and clinical work, Dr. Holcomb provides consultations and training centered around eradicating anti-Black racism, and improving diversity, equity, and inclusion within the higher education and mental health fields. Dr. Holcomb obtained her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from The Family Institute at Northwestern University, and her Ph.D. in MFT from Florida State University.

Lauren received her Master of Social Work degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She has over 13 years of experience working in case management and counseling. She is a PhD student at North Carolina State University focusing on continuing professional education for adult learners. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, and Certified Clinical Supervisor in North Carolina. She has worked in private practice, the Veterans Health Administration, and community-based organizations focusing on serving adults with an emphasis on trauma, addictions, chronic pain, and crisis intervention. She has extensive experience providing clinical supervision services to social workers and addiction professionals. Lauren joined Relias as a behavioral health content writer and subject matter expert in 2021.

Wesley Jackson Wade is a licensed clinical mental health counselor, a licensed clinical addictions
specialist, a certified clinical mental health counselor, and a national certified counselor. He owns and
operates Forward Counseling & Consulting, collaborates as a neurodiversity consultant with various
organizations internationally, and has cultivated career programing in higher education throughout the
state of North Carolina for neurodivergent students in addition to programs centering the experiences
of undergraduate Black men attending PWIs. Currently, Wesley is a Ph.D. candidate in the Counseling
and Counselor Education program at NC State University where he researches the associations between
neurodivergence, career development, and components of racial identity.
